Aaron Jones, the founder of the Eugene-based Seneca Family of Companies, has handed control of the company to his three daughters. They will work closely with CEO Rick Re, who will continue to run the company’s day-to-day operations.

The three daughters have worked throughout the company for the past 25 years. Back in the 80s, their father hired professors from the University of Oregon’s Lundquist School of Business to teach them about business and how to run the company.

“Our father built one of the strongest and technologically-advanced sawmill and timber companies in the U.S., and we are honored to continue his legacy,” Jody Jones said in a Business Wire press release.

The Seneca Family of Companies consists of Seneca Sawmill Company, Seneca Jones Timber Company, Seneca Sustainable Energy, and Seneca Noti. It is one of the largest timber and sawmill companies in the United States, producing 485 million board feet of lumber annually and managing more than 165,000 acres of Oregon forestland. The company is committed to sustainable forest management practices.

The Business Wire reports that Seneca maintains an R & D program and has been awarded over 25 patents in sawmill technology. The company produces high-quality lumber and is able to utilize virtually 100 percent of harvested timber.
