court [5]Klamath River Basin whistleblower and feds reach settlement

Dr. Paul Houser and the Interior Department have agreed on a settlement “to the mutual satisfaction and the best interest of both parties.” Houser, a hydrometeorologist, went to work for the Bureau of Reclamation in April 20ll and was fired less than a year later. He alleged that the Interior Department fired him because he criticized a 2011 news release on the removal of the Klamath River Basin dams. He said the release downplayed the scientists’ criticism of the project for political reasons, particularly misrepresenting the impact of the dams’ removal on chinook salmon.

A settlement regarding his firing was reached, but investigation is ongoing regarding his allegation that the agency put a spin on the scientific data for political reasons.  See more here [6]
