The Bureau of Land Management s (BLM) Oregon State Office is seeking nominations for 64 positions on the five Resource Advisory Committees (RACs) in the five Districts in western Oregon, for terms expiring in 2010. Nominations are due on or before June 1, 2010.

Appointments to the RACs would begin immediately upon confirmation by the Secretary of the Interior after August 15, 2010. The positions represent commercial, conservation, and civic categories. Specific disciplines include: organized labor or non-timber forest product harvester groups; developed outdoor recreation, off- highway vehicle users, or commercial recreation activities; energy and mineral development interests; commercial or recreational fishing interests; commercial timber industry; Federal grazing permit or other land- permit holders or nonindustrial private forest land owners; nationally, regionally, or locally recognized environmental organizations; dispersed recreational activities; archeological and historical interests; nationally or regionally recognized wild horse and burro interest groups, wildlife or hunting organizations, or watershed associations; state elected office-holders (or their designees); county or local elected office-holders; representatives of American Indian tribes within or adjacent to the Committee area; school officials or teachers; or representatives of the public-at-large.

Any individual or organization may nominate one or more persons to serve on a Committee. Nominees must reside within one of the counties that are (in whole or in part) within the Coos Bay, Eugene, Medford,
Roseburg, or Salem BLM District boundaries.

Nomination forms are available at each of the BLM Districts listed above or from the BLM Web site at: http://www.blm.gov/or/rac/files/2010_SRS_Nomination_Form.pdf. Nominees must specify the District Office(s) they are applying to and the category of interest they are best qualified to represent on the RAC.

Nominees will be evaluated based on their education, training, and knowledge in their specific fields of interest, their knowledge of the issues and resources of the BLM District they wish to serve in, and their experience in collaborative decision-making.

Council members are appointed by the Secretary of the Interior, and serve without compensation except for reimbursement of travel expenditures incurred in the course of their duties. Council member terms will expire on September 30, 2013.
