Threatened Forest Lawsuit Concerns Governor:
In February, an environmental group filed a legal notice of its intended lawsuit challenging Oregon State Forest management of coho salmon in the Tillamook and Clatsop State Forests. State Dept. of Forestry officials say such a lawsuit would hinder ongoing efforts to craft a new State Forest Plan. Governor Kitzhaber issued a press statement saying, “Through years of public-private partnerships, Oregon has made great progress on coastal coho salmon recovery… threats of litigation undermine that progress…”
