NAWG Surveys Farmers regarding COVID
A recent NAWG poll of their members found 90% of respondents indicated that COVID-19 had increased the level of stress, with the top issues being experienced were access to labor, followed by access to and increased cost of inputs, cashflow/access to credit and transportation issues.
Economic conditions causing concern as a result of the pandemic included the following responses:
– Have lost value of wheat on May futures from January to April: 57%
– Reduced consumer spending will depress prices: 58%
– Domestic and global supply chains will increase market volatility: 74%
– Wheat farmers will be worse off as a result of the coronavirus pandemic: 71%
