A Portland grocery chain has filed a lawsuit against Country Natural Beef of Redmond after a 2019 E. coli outbreak sickened several people and forced a recall of beef sold in its New Seasons Market stores. The $2.7 million lawsuit, filed in Multnomah County Circuit Court, seeks to cover the costs of implementing the recall, refunding customers who purchased the tainted beef, cleaning, and investigating the outbreak, according to the Associated Press. New Seasons also claims damages to its reputation and goodwill with customers. In November 2019, Oregon Health Authority and Oregon Department of Agriculture officials told the grocery chain of three E. coli cases connected to ground beef sold in New Seasons stores.
