Legislature ends: Farm bills re-cap

By Oregonians for Food and Shelter

Last week marked the adjournment of the 2022 Legislative Session. Yesterday, the Senate held the final floor debate on ag overtime, and once the vote was final and the bill was approved, both chambers accelerated the pace towards the final gavel.

The Private Forest Accord and its associated bills also passed out of second chamber yesterday, and today legislators wrapped the vote on the state’s massive spending package. OFS worked to secure $1 million for pollinator protection and pesticide extension, but our joint efforts to support back-filling the budget shortfall for the OSU Statewides were unsuccessful.
The session ends with some significant disenchantment over the political process, with three Democratic legislators announcing their retirement this week and one continuing to speak out against hyper-partisanship.
