HB 4059 is bad for farmers

Please join us in opposing HB 4059 with the -7 amendment to restrict GE crops!

By Oregonians for Food and Shelter,

HB 4059 was supposed to implement solutions for coexistence between specialty seed and canola growers based on a workgroup that was initiated by legislation last session.

The -7 amendment would place a restriction on all genetically engineered brassicas within the Willamette Valley Protected District, which has no basis in science and was not part of the work group discussion.

OFS continues to advocate for following science – legislators should not be in the position of picking winners and losers among Oregon’s crops, particularly when there isn’t a scientific basis for doing so.

See our coalition one-pager here. Please oppose an unnecessary restriction on GE and future breeding innovations. Urge legislators to be fair, protect all growers, and follow the science.
