County votes to limit agriculture

Linn County Commission Votes to Restrict Agriculture

By Oregonians for Food and Shelter,

Linn County approved a new restriction on large poultry farms, only allowing sites to obtain the state’s water quality permit if they are more than a mile from any existing residential structure. This is Oregon’s first local land-use restriction for a regulated agricultural operation on land zoned for exclusive farm use. OFS submitted comments expressing significant concern about the proposed restriction. We will work closely with our members and partners against the continued efforts by activists to paint animal agriculture as a risk to neighbors, without data or evidence.
