By Oregonians for Food and Shelter,
For those making a list and checking it twice before heading off for your holiday activities, written comments for ODA’s LUBGWMA fertilizer rulemaking are due at 5pm on Monday, December 22nd. These proposed rules will have a significant impact on producers in the LUB and will set a precedent for other existing and future groundwater management areas. The proposed rules include required soil sampling before nitrogen fertilization, irrigation management, creation of nutrient management plans, record-keeping, and more. OFS remains most concerned about the use of deep soil residual nitrogen testing as a metric for regulatory success, which is reflected in our written comments, submitted today. If you would like to discuss the contents of the rules, contact Dani ([email protected]).
