Oregon Specialty Crop Block Grant Program Now Accepting Applications

The Oregon Department of Agriculture (ODA) is now accepting applications for the Specialty Crop Block Grant Program (SCBGP). This competitive grant program uses USDA funding to enhance the competitiveness of Oregon’s specialty crops in domestic and foreign markets.

Eligible Crops

Grants support projects involving fruits, vegetables, tree nuts, dried fruits, Christmas trees, turf-type grasses, and nursery crops (including floriculture and horticulture). View the complete list of eligible crops at the USDA specialty crop block grant website.

Who Can Apply

The following organizations are eligible to apply:

– Non-profit organizations

– Government entities (local and state)

– For-profit organizations

– Industry trade associations

– Producer groups

– Commodity commissions

– Public and private colleges/universities

Important Exclusions

Grant funds cannot be used for projects that solely benefit a single organization or individual, fixed asset purchases, expenses incurred before the award, or administration/indirect costs.

– December 1, 2025: Overview and process webinar

– January 30, 2026: Application deadline (noon)

– April 30, 2026: Sub-grantees selected

– October 1, 2026: Funding begins for awarded projects
