Oregon 2nd District Rep. Cliff Bentz wants to give farmers, ranchers and others more say in how the federal government allocates water in attempts to protect endangered species, according to KTVZ.com. He introduced H.R. 8259, which would require agencies implementing the Endangered Species Act to discuss water allocation with local residents who hold federal water project contracts because they often can identify water sources, delivery systems, and diversions that affect different species. The measure also requires federal agencies to explain their decisions.
