Hot Good Resolution Heard in Committee

Senate Joint Memorial (SJM 7) which would, “…require the United States Department of Labor to adopt standard rules and procedures for the application of the ‘hot goods’ provision of the Fair Labor Standards Act” was heard on Wednesday in the Senate Committee on General Government and Small Business Protection. There was a good showing of support from farmers, Labor Commissioner Brad Avakian’s office and the sponsor of the bill Senator Girod.

Oregon Farm Bureau anticipates this bill will move to the Senate floor very soon. The committee recognized the problems with the hot goods order in agriculture and the lack of procedures and process the Department of Labor used when implementing the hot goods order.
