FSMA Produce Safety Listening Sessions with FDA

Meeting Objectives:
To discuss the current proposed standards for Produce Safety, including specific aspects of the proposed rules such as agricultural water and alternatives and variances.

There will be no registration fee for this event.
The FDA Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) will significantly impact growers, packers and processors
• The deadline for comments to FDA is September 16, 2013 and further industry input is needed
• Mr. Michael Taylor, FDA Deputy Commissioner for Foods and Veterinary Medicine, and FDA produce safety experts will be available to further discuss specific aspects of the proposed rules- including requirements for agricultural water and alternatives and variances to certain provisions in the proposed rule
• A multi-state team including universities and regulatory agencies, in partnership with FDA, are offering these two opportunities for further stakeholder discussion
Food growers, packers, and processors are encouraged to engage in this discussion with FDA.
