Late this afternoon, the Oregon Elections Division completed signature verification for Initiative Petition 28 and has determined that the petition does NOT contain sufficient signatures to qualify for the November general election ballot. While some in the industry hoped to see it on the ballot in order to both encourage voter turnout and give the measure a resounding defeat, it is great news for the coalition that has been working to oppose the initiative that we can now focus resources elsewhere!
